Teresa was born December 30, 1957, to James and Faye Duke Brooks of Bedford. She graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1976 and later studied cosmetology. Teresa was a member of the Citizens Fire Academy of Grapevine, where she enjoyed giving of her time and support. Teresa’s joy for life and family was contagious. Her smile lifted a room and her humor brought laughter. She was a devoted mother and a selfless friend. If someone needed help, no matter the time of day, Teresa would be there with a sympathetic ear, an encouraging word, and a shoulder to lean on.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father, James W. Brooks; and her grandparents, Collin and Jenetta Duke.

Teresa lived, loved and laughed – and we know it’s how she would want to be remembered. “Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” – Mitch Alborn.

Teresa leaves behind her former husband, John Van Deventer; son, Joseph Van Deventer and wife, Elisha; daughter, Amy Van Deventer; mother, Faye Brooks; brother, Dale Brooks and wife, Margie; sister, Brenda Ward and husband, Tim; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
