James Lawrence Shawver, “JL”, age 92, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 6,
2021, in Azle, Texas with his family by his side. The family finds great comfort in
knowing that their beloved “Daddy” and “Grandpa” went immediately into the arms of
Jesus for eternity.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, January 11. 2021, at Biggers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at First Baptist
Church of Lakeside where Mr. Shawver was a longstanding member. Burial will be held
at Jaybird Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Biggers Funeral
Home of Lake Worth, Texas.

JL was born December 3, 1928 in Terrell, Texas. He was a resident of Azle since 1973,
where he and his wife happily raised their daughter and son. Mr. Shawver was a
business owner and purchased the Fort Worth Auto Auction in 1968 that he operated
until he sold it in the early 1980’s. He went into early retirement where he continued to
manage multiple real estate properties and worked in the car sales industry literally until
the day he became ill in late December 2020. Mr. Shawver had a sharp mind and a
quick wit that brightened the day of anyone he spoke with. He was a trustworthy and
humble man, continually witnessing his love of Christ, an honorable member of the
community, who was greatly loved and will be missed by countless people he met
throughout his life. He made an impact with everyone he came in contact with, after one
conversation you knew how he lived his life; Loving God and loving people.

Preceded in death by: wife, Azalea Shawver; parents James Arthur and Annie Laura
Shawver.

Survivors: Daughter, Anne Kilmer and husband Bret; Son, JA Shawver; Grandson,
Christian Kilmer, all of Azle; Sister, Annie Florence, of Seymour, Texas; and many
loving family members and friends.
