Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in White Church Cemetery in Glen Rose. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home.

Flip was born July 7, 1947, to Jessie Odean and Ivan Jerry Flippin in Glen Rose. He attended school in Fort Worth, graduating from Trimble Technical High School in 1965. He worked for Western Electric, General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter, and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 22 years. For many years, Flip enjoyed cross-country motorcycle racing, riding his Harley with friends, camping, hunting arrowheads, and he was an avid history buff. Lately, he enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with family.

He fought a long, hard battle with COPD and emphysema, always trying to keep a positive attitude. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he will be greatly missed. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his daughter, Kim Mathis and husband, Barry; mother, Jessie Stieglbauer; sister, Diane Horton and husband, Leroy, all of Springtown; grandson, Marcus Mathis of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Macey Mathis of Fort Worth and Myranda Mathis of Springtown; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
